Gay man backed for Navy secretary →
muppetpants: notthatkindagay: Some top retired military leaders and some Democrats in Congress are backing William White, chief operating officer of the Intrepid Museum Foundation, to be the next secretary of the Navy - a move that would put the first openly gay person at the top of one of the services. The secretary’s job is a civilian position, so it would not run afoul of the ban on gays...

robotlove: cameronchristopher: awesome-everyday: THIS IS NOT NEW NEWS. Obama said in his book that he’s against Gay Marriage, and that it comes from a place of, “Faith.” Look, everyone was all obamafied before, and then prop 8 passes and he’s a part of “The Man?” No. Obama never lied about his stance of gay marriage, and frankly it’s not a big deal at this point. Why am I not worried...

What Obama said this morning, re: Warren
spitintheocean: kapitalisthippie: soupsoup: chuckmore:apsies:butnotmine: PETER SLEVIN, WASHINGTON POST: I have a question about pastor Rick Warren. He holds a number of social views at odds with your own views and your strong supporters. When and Why I First Supported Barack Obama
notthatkindagay: vondelpark: This whole Rick Warren kerfuffle has reminded me of the time I first decided that Obama was the type of politician I could support. It was an episode of Meet the Press—late 2006 or so, but I’m not exactly sure—featuring Obama and Warren (and, I think, Newsweek’s Jon Meacham). They were there to talk about an AIDS initiative in Africa they were both working on. Tim...

Obama's unity call falls on P.C. ears →
robot-heart-politics: notthatkindagay: Keep your eyes on the prize, boys. Obama’s campaign to unify the country — which last I checked includes millions of Warren’s fellow travelers — is in the service of an administration whose stated policy positions are the most supportive ever on LGBT civil rights. Winning over support for a pro-gay president from anti-gay leaders isn’t just defensible,...

I saw this and thought “yeah, and?” But look at the column on the left hand side that shows the ages of the cabinet members. A bunch of them are in their 40s and 50s… nothing wrong with the older ones, as experience is an awesome thing to have, but I love that he doesn’t think he’s an isolated case of bright and relatively youngh.
